Fire Alarm Upgrade

Project Type:  Construction Manager

Location:  Portland, OR

Date:  October 2017

Scope of Work

SiTESPAN acted as the Construction Manager at-risk for the replacement of an existing fire alarm system in a 365,000 square foot business center that is operational at all times.

    Project Detail

SiTESPAN installed a new, state of the art, fire alarm system that included fire alarm control panels, alarm annunciator panels with voice evacuation interface and addressable fire alarm devices, distribution power supplies, duct detectors, elevator controls, sprinkler flow and tamper valve monitoring, addressable relays throughout the entire facility, and a building automation system interface. The replacement of the system components required extensive scheduling and sequencing, as there are multiple business units that operate within the facility and access is restricted to certain areas throughout the day. To ensure the facility was protected at all times, the new system was completely installed and tested prior to the cut-over from the old system. Once the new system was online, the old system was decommissioned and all abandoned devices, panels, conduit and wiring was removed.

The most important consideration for SiTESPAN and the client was maintaining the existing fire alarm protection up to the point of the cut-over, and ensuring the functional operation of the new system.
